Pombo Island: A Piece of Heaven in Ambon

One more beautiful place to visit in Ambon is Pombo Island. It is a small island, only 4 km² of area. There is no villagers lives there. A name of Pombo comes from a bird of Pombo which is originally from that island. 

Pombo Island is located between Ambon and Haruku Island. You can go to Tulehu Port first and then rent the boat to reach Pombo Island. It will take around 1 hour by scooter/ motorbike or car from Ambon city centre to Tulehu Port and another 20 minutes from Tulehu Port to Pombo Island by boat. You can hire a boat from there. It will cost you from IDR 350,000 to IDR 800,000, depends on the boat size.      

 

You can snorkeling and diving in Pombo Island. There are some great diving spots there. You can see various coral species and other pretty underwater creatures. Pre-wedding photo session also usually taken in Pombo Island due to its beautiful vast sandy beach.

There is no lodging there, so you can come in the morning and back in the evening. However, for you who want to camp. You can bring your tent and enjoy your night there. On the weekend, you might see some people camping there. Keep Pombo Island nice and clean guys.
